About the files in .kobo/kepub folder, I was wrong. They ARE Kobo Plus books. You can open them with Calibre reader renaming them with SOMENAME.kepub.epub. But it's perfectly useless, since the text is crypted.

I suppose this make Kobo Plus completely useless. I prefer to buy a single book and own it.
Umm... Congratulations for realizing that Kobo Plus is a loan. You don't own it.

I use Kobo Plus for much the same reasons I used Kindle Unlimited. Over the decades, I've found there are a lot of books that I will read once. If I found the book compelling enough that I would re-read it, I would purchase it. Since Kobo Plus allows me to have unlimited books unlike KU's limit of 20, I find myself purchasing fewer books.

What I want is songs that echo. The stuff we're doing now is like - somebody's bed sheets. Spread 'em out. Soil 'em. Ship 'em out to laundry. You know? But, our songs, I want to be able to - fold ourselves up in 'em - forever. Do you understand?—Eddie Wilson, Eddie and the Cruisers
