I've been lurking since 2018. I don't need help but I have some information that might be useful to Mac users:
I have a 13" mid 2012 MacBook Pro running "High Sierra" (OS10.13.6) and Kindle version 1.20.2. Because my OS is technically "old" I don't get offered Kindle updates and they can't be force-installed because they are incompatible.
I just bought a new (2023) book from Amazon and when I tried to download it into Kindle for Mac, an error message popped up on screen:
PCMAC_126_Delivery_Error_Upgrade_Mac
I saw no prior warning that I wouldn't be able to read this book on my Mac (but obviously I expected this because I've been following the discussions here!)
So I charged up my old "Kindle Touch", downloaded the book to it and then connected the Kindle Touch to the Mac via USB. I opened its "Documents" folder. From there I was able to drag the AZW file into "Calibre" and convert it to epub for my iPad (which I prefer).
(I've been using Calibre since 2018 when I found the de-drm instructions. The latest version that will run on this OS is 3.48.)
I realise that I haven't posted anything that isn't already known but I hope this info. is useful to someone, anyway.
Greetings from the Greek island of Crete!
