The Oasis can manage some PDFs (I tested a gen 2) as can either Kobo Libra. The 9.7" Kindle DXG is poorer than a PW3 for PDFs.

The Sage 8″ and Mars 7.8″ can manage more. Old magazine scans and similar need my 24″ 4K HDR monitor, which is better to read on than my tablet. The 10.3″ Elipsa and 10″ LCD tablet are only really much better than the 8″ Sage for proofing layout/format of already proofed content.

I did a jail break on the Kindle DXG out of curiosity.
Old magazine scans do not need a 24" 4k monitor. They can do just fine on an iPad Mini.
