I'm familiar with that (unproved) theory. But still, assuming it's true, why not wait until next year? It's not like Kobo is in a habit of frequent releases à la Onyx Boox, so to me it would make sense to wait until a meaningful improvement can be made.
This, in combination with the lack of software improvements, doesn't give a good impression IMO.
I'm disappointed as I really want a bigger reader with high PPI. I tried an Onyx Boox Max Lumi for a couple of days - would've been my ideal device if not for the blurry screen (low PPI + bad glass layer on top).
