Maybe somehow your image files are not recognised by your system. Have you tried using a restore point from the time before you installed calibre and reinstalled LO. It maybe less stressful than reformatting c: and having to reinstall everything. One of my windows updates did this once and I had to revert and then update again. Good luck.

Edit: calibre will not have caused this unless you got it from somewhere other than the calibre site.
