MANY THANKS. I was able to bring the old ereader back to life as result.
I believe that a poor battery connection from the new battery I installed is what corrupted it. It did take a few tries to sort it out and then the Kobo website for "setup" was down.
I did a chat with them, ie Kobo and they replied with a restored website that let me complete bringing the n613 back to life. best regards and thanks for all of your efforts here.
