And yes, in the grand scheme of things the cover is not really that much of an issue but if publishers are going to charge so much for a non-physical book then a cover would be nice

It's especially hilarious when you buy such a coverless book and then find the following warning inside:
If you purchased this book without a cover, you should be aware
that this book is stolen property. It was reported as “unsold and
destroyed” to the publisher, and neither the author nor the
publisher has received any payment for this “stripped book.”
Which is a carryover from the paper book days and the publisher hasn't bothered to remove it from the ebook.
