Installing calibre won't nuke your PC.

The FAQ reference to Wacom is quite old… like a decade or more, and I don't recall any Wacom specific issues being raised for almost as long. And, unlike you most new users don't read the FAQs before they install.

Given the time lapse it is possible that the problem has gone away. So make sure you have the latest Wacom drivers installed, and a recent version of Windows before installing calibre.

As you already know the Wacom incompatibility lies (lay) with the Qt framework that calibre uses, a search for "Qt problems with Wacom devices" will provide relevant links.

You might want to wait until Kovid Goyal drops by, he knows his way around the QT bug reporting system better than most. He's normally here most days.
