A lot of the weirdness is because the Solarians were incredibly weird, even by Spacer standards. They're a planet full of people who can't stand having anything to do with other people in person. They even developed technology that allows them to have basically a moving video call. That way they can go on walks together, just not, you know,
together.
Oh and they had tons and tons of robots, more per person than any other Spacer planet.
