Viewer hangs, new install on Rocky LInux 9.1

Hi all!

I've been using Calibre for some years, but on an old Linux where nothing beyond version 3 would work.

I have now done a full upgrade to Rocky Linux 9.1, so I installed the latest Calibre on it.

My trouble is that the ebook viewer doesn't work--it opens a window then hangs forever (or at lest 12-14 hours, if not forever).

I ran it last night, from the commandline within the GDB debugger, and got a long trace of what it is doing, but I don't see any error messages. I'll attach this to this posting.

Early on when starting the viewer it has a white window background with NOTHING showing in it. After a while, it seems to go transparent and shows whatever was behind it, but when I move the window whatever is showing in it goes with it.

I'd appreciate whatever advice you can offer.

Thanks in advance!
