I recently noticed the term virtual column is used in the Calibre user manual :

Define virtual columns that contain data from other columns.
IMO virtual is preferable to composite. Amongst other things one of the essay writing rules my seventh form English teacher drummed into my head (by throwing blackboard dusters at me) was:
