And in my case it also comes in email. But I never set up a phone with texting ability at Amazon (and pay every time they want to send a code or a reminder, or whatever). It is also strange that it does 2 different errors. If it says "we can't find that account" error I DO get a email with the code. But if I get a "you are not finished, check your email" I DO NOT get the code in email.
I don't have second factor enabled directly at Amazon, or I shouldn't anyway. I will double check that. Perhaps turn it on then OFF again if it isn't. Although my phone didn't have any issues when I logged in their main shopping app earlier, so it should be off.

Insanity is doing the same thing expecting different outcomes. Try something different. Enable two factor verification, see if it decides to work then
for you. You still have to act quick, because of the short timeout.
