You can use it unregistered. As for books with DRM, that is why I mentioned Kindle for Android (not to actually read, but to download the book). With it you can remove the DRM so you can sideload. If you are interested in removing the DRM, check this out: (this will even work if you happen to get your hands on a blacklisted Kindle)
