May I ask how even the lighting is? Both my Voyage and my Oasis show a somewhat uneven lighting, with a horizontal brightness gradient on the Oasis and a vertical one on the Voyage. This makes the unevenness on the Oasis more annoying as the eyes perceive the gradient on every line, as opposed to every page on the Voyage. If the gradient is vertical on the basic Kindle I'm definitely going to check it out.

My Basic has a perfectly even screen, it’s the most even screen I’ve ever had from Amazon. It’s not as bright as the Voyage, that’s why in my picture the Voyage was two points lower in brightness but considering the price it’s a bargain, although in the UK the price has gone up again so I’d recommend waiting until it drops again. Probably Easter, if not then I’m sure it will drop for Prime Day in July.
