That might be what is often used for, but I think the real purpose of DeASCM is to replace Adobe Digital Editions. For example, in Linux, I can borrow a library book, disable DeDRM in Calibre, use Calibre to download the encrypted ePub. Then I move that encrypted ePub to my Nook Glowlight 3, which decrypts it. That way I can read borrowed books on my Nook without having to "liberate" books I don't own.
