A Paperwhite 2 will get KFX format downloads, but you can get the older decryptable format from the website for purchased books.
It's possible to get the books files from a non-jailbroken Paperwhite 2. But KFX format won't be decryptable. You'd need a Kindle that doesn't support KFX format at all to decrypt books downloaded directly to it.
eta: unless it happens to be one of the few books which isn't available in KFX format.
