Calibre bookmark files in purchased books

Mostly just out of curiosity: has anybody else ever found Calibre bookmark files inside a newly purchased book?

It's happened a few times to me. The Kobo edition of StarBridge is the only one I can remember off-hand, but I think the rest were all self-published or small publishers.

Maybe the person making the eBook took a peek at the file in ebook-viewer before uploading it?
