Next time I want to read a PDF, I crop the margins beforehand, or convert it to a comic if I don't need text selection. Converted to a comic, it flips pages super fast, faster than the pdf or print replica version of the book. File size? Well, huge, but performance good.

Yes, and on Scribe, they should let you enable Pen toolbar (and create Sticky Notes) for any fixed layout format, including Comics. And even on other devices, why can't you create (regular) notes, etc.? Long press where you want one and it brings up Note dialog etc.
