Or Goodreads simply has a link to a paid Amazon version. Then the blurb on Amazon simply says how they've republished this classic work (meaning we stripped out most of the Gutenberg specific stuff, didn't bother doing anything else, spent 5 mins on a cover image and uploaded via KDP). Definitely my main reading rant today.
If it's a better known PD work then Wikipedia might be useful. Or maybe fadedpage. Gutenberg & archive org tell you nothing, though I might flip through a bit of the HTML version on Gutenberg.
