For Feist, I would just put all the books in a single series... Riftware is pretty straightforward throughout. It gets trickier for series that are distinct but parallel, and intersect at different points in their respective order. For example, F. Paul Wilson's Repairman Jack and Adversary Cycle series, which share 2 books at different points in their respective order.
