monitoring for button presses on kindle 3

Hi, please could I check how to monitor for button presses on a k3? I can see from "showlog"

230222:131631 cvm[16729]: I FrameworkKeyEventDispatcher:USER_HARDKEY_PRESS:Key Pressed=Right_PrevPage:User pressed Right Side Turn Prev Page button

but is this the only way to do it, and is it possible to read the keyboard presses too?

I don't get anything from tailing the files in /dev/input/

The following link
https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=164808

suggests you can get stuff from udev with udevadm , but I'm struggling to run that as it isn't found.

Thank you for any help anyone can give,

Rob
