Yes, I know, "God works in mysterious ways, etc" I know all the arguments, for and against. I've heard them all ad nauseum.
And I don't think we've "grown up", Neko. Just look around. I"m sure anyone will agree that as a species, we have a long way to go.

Hey, I'm not interested in an argument either, and I wasn't trying to upset anyone! This is the Llounge, we don't do that here!
For what it's worth, I don't think prayers protect people (except maybe from their own negative emotions). And I don't think we've grown up yet either. What I meant was, if we want to grow up as a species, we can't be expecting a deity to keep cleaning up our messes. Quite the opposite: we need a consistent universe so we can get a handle on cause and effect.
Anyway, I'm not trying to defend this position, just explain what I meant.
