I've wondered about this myself - especially since I enjoy anthologies and collections. I mean, if I read story A, start story B and not like it so I skip it, and read story C does that mean author B doesn't get their penny? Or are all the authors somehow affected? I know it's not my responsibility, but I do wonder.
