When I think back to memorable books I read as a child/young teenager and haven't reread since, I can see a few scenes from them, so that must mean I've done this at least since I read "Peter's baby" and "The master detective Blomquist"
I've also enjoyed well-written language as long as I can remember -- I learnt favourite paragraphs by heart and can still remember some of them.

Sometimes the place I'm seeing suddenly doesn't fit -- I've seen the fireplace to the right of the door, and something happens that places it on the other side of the room -- and that makes me stumble a bit.
