In earlier versions, I made my library available to myself and family outside our LAN and liked that very much.
But quite a while ago it quit working. Today I tried to fix it and started by trying updating the app. I wound up actually downgrading it back to 5.44, since I am only running MacOS X.14, and the Calibre download page said that was the last version to run below X.15.
I tried accessing the server from the LAN IP and it worked.
But I got lots of different results, all bad, trying to access it from outside the LAN. I have opened port 8080 and sometimes I got the log in screen. It repeatedly rejected my correct password. I restarted the server to no advantage. I deleted and recreated the user. Now it seemed to accept the password, but said that something was unhandled. But most times it didn't do anything at all, just timed out.
