For many years a ThinkPad used to be my workhorse: hardly any serious issues. And updates were regularly for about 4-5 years. However, every model had indeed its quirks and Lenovo never solved those permanently. My last model (T460) had ventilator issues: suddenly it would turn into a hairdryer at full speed causing great annoyance with my colleagues because of the accompanying noise. It was a known driver issue related to extended function keys. Never solved, save for some workarounds (delayed starting up drivers). But I would accept one ThinkPad any time, right away. Great machines. The best I had was a ThinkPad X1 Carbon, very light, very powerful.
