I'm OK with that too - I convert "comics" ebooks into image archives (cbz/cbr) and view them in dedicated comic book software - most of them have a toggle for double-page mode.

Wow, I'm kicking myself for not drawing the comparison to fixed-layout formats like comic books myself – thank you!
Maybe I should look at converting this one to a comic-book archive format instead, or a “flepub” as Kobo calls them! Off to go do some learning!
