Using a smart phone to download and send is no more difficult than using a full blown iPad or android tablet. All you need is a browser and email app. As long as the receiving Amazon account is set up to allow reception from the sending email address, there is no reason it can't be done.

Assuming the book is drm free, which it would be from Gutenberg, or if it was an arc from an author.
