I know this is old, but I promised I would post again once I had more info on this issue.

I travel a lot, and use library books. Many times I am reading a book that has expired, so I make sure I top up the charge so it doesn't die, thereby making it impossible to open the expired book. As a result, I was unable to test this further. I did let it run down as often as I could though.

For a while, it was hitting around 35%, then rapidly depleting. It later went to 20% or so, and now I am happy to report it went to 10% last night and gave me the low battery warning. I read a bit more, then closed the cover, a magnetic cover, came back to it a few hours later, and it showed the "charge your reader" page. It had gone to zero percent.

It looks as if the battery system has reset and it is acting properly now.
