I have recently got two books which were available as KU on Amazon.co.uk but couldn't do my usual convert to epub so I could keep them permanently. I now have the three formats with no DRM.

Sorry to join in disillusioning you but
….is a pirate site. I picked up a book from them which was also in KU which means it is exclusive to Amazon. Even the author is not allowed to sell the book. The epub version was a conversion from azw3 to epub by calibre and not an original epub. One gentle hint was the number of 'data-AmznRemoved-M8="true"' and 'data-AmznRemoved="mobi7"' scattered through the book.
As for keeping a book permanently that is b
orrowed from KU? Much like keeping a library loan, I personally find that a reprehensible action.
