I really enjoyed the first 6 volumes. I remember I had to wait a long time for volume 7, A Crown of Swords, that according to Wikipidia appeared in 1996. I reread the first 6 before I read vol 7. Vol 7 was, to me, a disappointment. I also bought Vol. 8 but did not finish it.
Actually it is IMO rather good that 6 large volumes are excellent.
I have bought the first volume as an ebook with the intention to reread it. The first reads were paperbacks.
