Android tablet installation and display rotation

Wow. I really like this app and would prefer to use it on my tablet but the whole screen rotation thing is becoming a deal breaker.

I've read lots of posts about this, but there doesn't seem to be anything definitive ("do this and the problem is solved"). Locking the tablet rotation as portrait has absolutely no effect on Koreader. I have not found a third party rotation control app that can address Koreader's intransigence.

File manager starts in landscape (like my boot animation). I can get the file manager into portrait but only by a non-reproducible series of guesses with the various rotation options (they do not correspond to what actually happens when selected).

Then I open the book and yet another frantic "let's try this (again)" takes place until I finally have the book in portrait (with the device right-side-up...). Setting this achievement as the "default" has no effect.

Seriously, is there nothing that can be done to simply tell the app to do EVERYTHING in portrait? Some mysterious configuration file that can be altered? (I have root).

Please tell me someone using a standard tablet has figured this out
