American and UK libraries work differently (the authors do not get a 'per borrow' payment), but that is neither here nor there with my argument.

A borrowed book is not meant to be yours forever. Once you strip the DRM and sideload it, why not keep it? It will eventually happen out of laziness or neglect if not for any other reason.

Still, I could see that a library book is more acceptable than a KU book due to the scheme used for payment.
