Excellent, thanks for the info. I'll do (or already did) as you suggested. My Kindle PW 11th gen arrived today. After registering and connecting it with my account I extracted the serial number, added that into the DeDRM plugin and was able to open a previously not decryptable file without any issues using the "download&transfer" option and importing the downloaded file into Calibre.
It looks like the device will indeed see little actual usage
