You can but you need to do an image copy, a simple file copy will not work. The Image creator mentioned in the Memory Upgrade Mod Guide (With Pictures) will allow you to create the image and then the Image writer will let you copy it to a new μSD card for your Mini. My suggestion would be to create an image from your wife's μSD card and then test by installing her μSD card in your Mini. If it works, you can carry on with obtaining a new μSD card and copying the image to it. If it doesn't work, your Mini has other issues and is unlikely to be fixable.

Rather often, the issue turns out to be the μSD card has hardware issues and a replacement is needed so I generally suggest using a new card rather than recycling the one currently in your Kobo.
