ah that's a shame, thank you. I'm doing the literature clock thing which was on instructables from some time ago, but as an extension and my own code, as I bricked a kindle 4 when trying to use their code. I note that they had
/etc/init.d/powerd stop
/etc/init.d/framework stop
but the init.d folder is empty, powerd is superceded by the stop screensaver command, and I'm unclear on what stopping the framework was doing and am cautious about messing any further without knowing that I'm not going to break this one too. I soldered the serial to the other one so I should be able to recover it. It was actually still working for what I wanted it to do despite being on the "repair needed" until the eips command stopped updating the screen randomly, so it needs a full re-flash.
After moving to KUAL I couldn't be happier tho - this is so much easier to get working. Thank you to everyone involved
