Custom columns

Does custom column data get embedded in the book's metadata?

In other words, if I have a custom column named "Favorites" with a Yes/No field and I've selected "Yes" for a book, and I convert the book or other wise re-embed the book's metadata, does that custom column data get embedded in the book? So if I took just the epub file and added it to a new install of Calibre that had that custom column configured, would the value of that book's custom column value get imported?

Or does the custom column value only live in the book's metadata.opf file and not in the book itself?

I hope my question makes sense.
