A similar issue occurs between Amazon formats. For reflowable books KF8 (azw3) format most closely matches the original format that the publisher provided to Amazon. KFX is highly processed and not nearly as good in that respect. And MOBI is even worse.

This is why I'm not really interested in KFX DRM getting figured out. I'd be much more interested in seeing a way to get the latest Kindle for PC/Mac to download KF8.
