Thank you, Bob. Your post confirms my thinking - that although one might remove the IE "application", the actual HTML display control which forms the "core" of IE is so closely integrated with Windows, that it cannot be removed.

(I'm hoping that's the case, anyway, because my own software makes use of that control to render HTML pages, display picture, and much else.)
