I gave away two MS Windows tablets because either it's in Desktop mode and needs keyboard + mouse, or in Tablet mode, in which case desktop programs are crippled.

Also 10" is too small for Content creation or Calibre.

I use an 8″ Sage as an ereader. I used to use a 15.5" 1600x1200 4:3 Laptop with XP, and changed to 15" 1920x1080 laptop with Linux five years ago. I still use it if I'm "out somewhere" otherwise I use 23" 4K screen on a small desktop with both SDD and HDD and a UPS.

I have a nice 12″ Lenovo X201 convertible laptop (to tablet) which has touch and Wacom digitiser pen. The screen is too small for Calibre and awkward for LO Writer. I think 15″ is minimum size screen for Windows, mac or Linux, at HD or better (Retina on 15″ or less is simply like having HD and turned off sub-pixel addressing/cleartype).

I've been using eInk since about 2013 and would not either go back to reading ebooks on LCD/OLED (though the 23″ 4K HDR screen is best I ever had and good for PDFs) or proofing on paper.

It's so fast and simple even to make an ebook with Calibre from LO Writer (with extra docx save) that I'd read larger web articles as epub2.

The Sage also is fastest yet to Send ebook to.

I think the best solution is a decent laptop (or PC with UPS if you don't go anywhere), 8″ Kobo Sage and maybe a 10" Android tablet for occasional use.

Last time I took laptop to daughter's house I took the 23" screen and the TKL Cherry keyboard too! (No numeric pad). I kept the screen box.

And I was never tempted to have an Osborne or similar back in the day.
