As I mentioned, I don't have any way to know what the actual capacity of the aliexpress battery is, but I've now had several long reading sessions with it, done some online downloading, etc. My guess is that it's pretty close to 3400-3500 mah. For one, it's heavier than the original. Second, battery drain is noticeably, though not dramatically, slower than the original. It''s 10 to 13 dollars cheaper thean the one that ships from the U.S. and I'm pretty sure it has a higher capacity for real. I can't guarantee that anyone else will have the same experience, but the only downside for me was waiting 32 days to get it.
