A family member had this problem for a few years so stopped reading. It may have something to do with anxiety. Her life had been in some upheaval for 5 years. Take a break. If you like the story, get up, go for a walk, do something, then sit back down and read. I totally understand skipping if you are bored with the story, but you clearly had the patience in the past to read a good story all the way through, so you need a new skill to help you get back to that. BTW, family member is back to reading this year. She is reading shorter books, but she expects by the end of winter to be back to regular length novels.
