noirverse,
That info is in FFF's AO3 site specific metadata entry ao3categories (except 'Gen', it's never included--not entirely sure why at this point).
The FFF standard metadata entry genre does include ao3categories by default, in addition to the site specific freeformtags entry.
But assigning genre to a fixed set column fails if there's anything but one single permitted value in the entry. A Calibre fixed set column cannot hold more than one value, and will not pick out a permitted value if FFF attempts to assign a list containing more than one single permitted value.
I would suggest a) using a different column type--there are tons of AO3 stories with more than one ao3categories value; and b) using the personal.ini setting custom_columns_settings to assign ao3categories to your new column.
