So I looked at all the 6 silver screws and the 11 black ones, and found one silver and three black not tight; so tightened them up, fitted the back back, and it now works without problem.
Only remains to serially update the software to 3.4.3, and reinstall the screen-saver hack.

Glad you got it working. Sometimes you need to do a hard reset (directions if you search google) but this wipes out all your books and settings. It is usually a last resort if all else fails. The easiest way to restore is to copy the books folders and files over to your computer then copy them back. Beats redownloading.
