Are tags supposed to be sorted after a bulk metadata edit?

I used the bulk metadata editor to add [Cleanup] to a batch of books. However, if I then open one of those books in the single metadata editor, [Cleanup] is always at the end, implying that the tags weren't sorted:

Fiction.Folktales & Mythology, [Cleanup]

Fiction.Animals.Horses, Fiction.Juvenile & Young Adult, [Cleanup]

They always appear sorted in book details.

Is this intended?
