Stylus compatibility seems almost random.
Apparently it can vary from one stylus to another, even for what should be identical units — a second (brand new, just out of the box) Staedtler Noris Digital Stylus which I tested began marking almost an 1" above the screen, while one I've been using on my Samsung Galaxy Book 12 worked fine.
