I'm now six episodes in 1899. And I must admit that I often have to rewind a bit to catch what is being said. I think it's due to both the switching of languages and the very quick subtitles. By the time my brain has registered the dialogue is not in a language I understand the subtitles are gone.

My two main gripes with this series is that that even though there are a lot of people from different nationalities it's remarkable how well they understand someone not speaking their language. Unless, of course, it's good for the story when they don't understand each other. The second thing is that I'm starting want answers to all the questions raised in the series, but I suspect by the end of the series/season we're not going to get many of them. I hope I'm wrong, but it's just one of those series where it wouldn't surprise me.
