I had assumed that was the case, but wonder if it's even on their roadmap. It seems like a natural fit to me. We'll have to wait and see.
For full parity, it would also need to support Flashcards, which is a feature of the Kindle apps but not of Kindle devices. This lets you assemble key points of a book for later review (I have yet to use this feature myself).
