And other people are telling you that they are not seeing the same delay. On my system, the delay between chapters is not noticeable. I suspect it is more your hardware or environment and not an issue with calibre.

What type of hardware is your system running? Are you using a NVME, spinning rust, USB attached drive, etc. Is your drive set to power off after a delay (see the advanced power options for this information.
