By default, Kobo devices do not read series information for sideloaded books. If you are using Calibre, however, the KoboTouchExtended device driver can set series information for you. It can also set subtitle information for you, but as Calibre does not have a subtitle field by default, you will first need to create your own column to store the subtitle information.

When series information is set, the software on the Kobo will recognize it. In your My Books section there are options to view Books, Authors, Series, and Collections. Additionally, books in any list view should have the series information displayed underneath their title.
